Signs, Signs, Everywhere a Sign!

In our continued effort to make the building and grounds safer for student and staff alike, we will be making some alterations to the traffic flow around the building.

First and foremost, we will continue the counter-clockwise driving flow around the building that has become the norm, but we will be heightening it. Starting on Monday, October 29, 2012, our school buses will follow the same route the regular traffic currently flows. This will mean the reversal of direction in the bus cage, but will mean that buses will no longer be passing behind the building at the end of the day as you try to clean out your shops and classrooms.

Secondly, we will be cleaning up some of our signage issues around the campus. This will mean the removal of a number of signs that may be confusing to our visitors and clientele as well as the creation of new signage to better identify locations of specific venues like the Brass Lantern, Salon Beverly, Main Office and Guidance. These new signs are going to placed on the facade to the entrance of the "new" building making them visible as a visitor enters the grounds.

We will also be repainting new arrows, lines and Do Not Enter signs strategically on the pavement around the building. In addition, we will be creating "Visitor Only" parking spots in the front of the building. The goal is to try and prevent visitors from parking along the driveway out front during the school day creating a safety hazard for Hanover safety personnel and ourselves.

As always, we can not keep our students, fellow staff members and building safe without your help. If you are leaving your classroom or shop unintended, please make sure that all doors are shut.

Extra-Curricular Happenings:

A Fellowship Group was recently formed at South Shore. This assembly of young people meets on Monday afternoons in Graphic Communications. The primary objective for this group is to grow and bond with one another. This group is open to any adult or student of any faith or no faith to discuss how their beliefs shape their lives.

The Outdoor Adventure Club is headed to Roger Williams Zoo this Thursday night, October 25, 2012, to view hundreds of Jack O'lanterns. The cost transportation and the event is $20 and is open to any staff member who'd like to attend. Please see Alison Thibodeau for further details.

Professional Practice

How does a garden of opportunities grow?

Great ideas need time to grow! A number of groups, clubs and shops have been stepping up with great experiences and opportunities for our students and staff. Unfortunately, the district has not been getting these ideas in time to plant the seeds for growth with the staff, students and community. If your group, club or shop has an experience you feel is worthy of your students’ time, please give us the time to do a proper rollout in the building and outside the building. We are looking for a 30-day notice before the event so that we can make use of the website and other technology to trumpet these great opportunities to one and all!
